The Solitaire Siamese Cat Family
FATHER FERDINAND SOLITAIRE spends a lot of his time gazing at the stars. If you ask him nicely he'll tell you the names of them all. But he would love to get a telescope so he could look at them more closely.
MOTHER TALLULAH SOLITAIRE says she can tell the future by reading tea leaves But in fact she's only pretending really! Whenever anyone finishes their tea, she'll stare at the cup and tell them what's going to happen to them - and sometimes she's right!.
BROTHER ZACK SOLITAIRE, like his father, just loves star-gazing. As well as learning the names of the stars from Ferdinand, he's looking for a new one that he can name after his mother.
SISTER ZARA SOLITAIRE loves helping her mother. Every day she drinks lots of tea just so Tallulah can tell her fortune. But strangely enough, Tallulah always 'predicts' the same thing, "If you're a good girl, you'll get a bowl of cream for tea!".
BABY TWINS TRIXIE AND DIXIE SOLITAIRE go everywhere together and do everything together. Once when Dixie got a splinter in his paw, Trixie had to have a bandage and a kiss to make it better.

FATHER KINGSLEY SOLITAIRE is a very successful author. He has written many books over the years, most of his works are crime thrillers and mystery stories. Every household in Sylvania has at least one of his books on the bookshelf. His stories always tell of faraway lands where crime and drama is rampant, a far cry from the Sylvanian village.
MOTHER MILLIE SOLITAIRE is also an author, like her husband, except her books are more romantic tales and not crime stories. She has had a lot of inspiration in the village, with all the happy romantic couples who get married. She usually finds inspiration by going to the village park and sitting under the old oak tree by the pond, and just watching the villagers go by.
BROTHER STEPHEN SOLITAIRE, unlike his parents is not very creative when it comes to writing. He likes reading, but would rather be out playing football with his friends than inside writing away.
SISTER ENID SOLITAIRE is a daydreamer, who thinks of faraway lands and adventure. She is often in her own little world, imagining all sorts of magical things. She writes all her thoughts in a little book, as she hopes one day to follow her parents and become an author, but at present, she is just happy telling her dreams to her baby sister as a bedtime story.
BABY SISTER PIXIE SOLITAIRE is a very lucky young girl. She gets spoilt when it comes to bedtime stories from her family. If her father isn't telling her an exciting crime thriller, her mother is telling her a romantic story about two people in love, or her sister tells her exciting stories about Princesses and magic. The trouble is for poor Pixie, she hears so many different stories each night from her family, when they go the next night to continue the story she gets all the characters and situations muddled up!
The Solitaire Siamese cat family were first launched in the UK in 1991, as an exclusive family that you could only get from the Token collector scheme on the boxes of Sylvanians. Some larger Woolworths stores also sold the family. The family later had a wedding set released in 1999 in the UK. The family has not had a re-release into the UK market, making it one of the few families not to. The family was originally released in Japan as part of the Urban Life range in the late 1980s. The Urban Life range was a more upmarket, posher looking Sylvanian figure, with smarter clothes and much more expensive looking buildings and furniture. The range was never released into the UK market, even though it was hinted to be coming on the back of a handbook in 1987. Several of the families did get a UK release, but in similar clothing to the current range of figures. The Urban Life range is quite rare to find these days, although some sets do appear on E-Bay and Rinkya. The Urban Life Solitaire cats did get a re-release in Japan as a limited run.
