The Dappledawn Fawn Rabbit Family
FATHER HERBAGE DAPPLEDAWN is the instigator in the family for going on long walks in what he calls 'The Great Outdoors'. In fact, his family call him 'Big Foot' because he takes such big strides that the children almost have to run in order to keep up with him! Country walks turn into Country Runs whenever you go out with Herbage. When he is at home, he can't keep still and goes and organises the sports activity classes for all the Sylvanian children.
MOTHER THEODORA DAPPLEDAWN has a passion for anything old. Herbage always jokes with her that's why she married him! Family life apart, her favourite past time is visiting stately homes and historic monuments. She spends a lot of time visiting Bertram Bamboo and his Sylvanian museum and reads lots of history books in Bob Catwood's Library. Theodora likes to trace family trees and always gets very excited if she finds a Sylvanian who is a distant relation to royalty! She enjoys taking the children on local history trips from school, showing them all the ancient monuments in Sylvania. Theodora makes up brilliant stories about Sylvanian ancestors and all the children really think she brings 'history to life'.
BROTHER RADISH DAPPLEDAWN always runs everywhere. He enjoys history too but the sort of sword fights and battles. He can often be seen pretending to be a gallant knight rescuing fair maidens and challenging other knights to duels. His favourite pastime is orienteering and has already encouraged Scott Corntop, Bubba Babblebrook and Rusty Wildwood amongst others to join him running in the woods looking for secret spots with the aid of a map and compass.
SISTER TILLY DAPPLEDAWN is just the opposite of her brother. She is very quiet and happily spends hours and hours painting and creating wonderful pictures of the Sylvanian countryside. While her brother is running about in the woods, Tilly enjoys sitting at her easel and painting to her heart's content. During the winter, Tilly loves to knit by the fireside. Everyone in her family is always well clad with jumpers and scarves to keep the cold out.
SISTER POPPY DAPPLEDAWN is a keen Maypole dancer. She is often practicing with her best friend Abbie Keats, and they have even had some special dresses made for the next Maypole dance.
SISTER RIHANNA DAPPLEDAWN is a very quiet little girl who happily spends hours and hours birdwatching. She knows all the birds' names, where they come from and what they eat. She can even recognise birds with her eyes shut – simply by listeing to their different songs!
BABY BROTHER DILLON DAPPLEDAWN never seems to stop smiling. Indeed, he is probably the easiest baby you've ever known. Being too small to walk anywhere, he's at his happiest when sitting on his father's broad shoulders or in his back-pack. From up there he can watch the pretty countryside go by – and that makes him smile even more.
BABY SISTER COTTON DAPPLEDAWN is also a jolly baby. Being in the fresh air seems to agree with her. Her mother seems to think she will take after her brother, Radish, because already at this very early age, she wants to crawl very quickly everywhere! Her favourite trick is to crawl away from her brother and sisters and hide somewhere and go 'peep a boo' from behind the settee!

GRANDFATHER ALFRED DAPPLEDAWN is now retired, but in his youth he used to be a brilliant painter and decorator. Most of the houses in the Sylvanian Village have been painted by Alfred over the years. Even though he is retired he still likes to paint, and can often be found sitting in his garden painting pictures. He is sure his granddaughter Tilly gets her artistic flair from him.
GRANDMOTHER HAZEL DAPPLEDAWN can usually be found walking through the village with her shopping trolley overflowing with shopping. It's not that she is a shopping addict, it's just that she likes seeing everyone and hearing what is happening around the village. Her husband Alfred jokes that he doesn't need to buy a newspaper anymore, as he gets all the news from Hazel before the newspaper is even printed!
The Dappledawn Rabbit family were first released into the UK Sylvanian range in 1995. Originally the family consisted of the basic parents, two children and two standing babies. The family had a re-release in 2010, this time the babies were changed to a twin set of sit and crawl babies. Two sisters were later released to the family, the first sister, Poppy came as a set with Abbie Keats and a maypole, as part of the 25th Anniversary sets. Another sister, Rihanna was released with grandmother Hazel as part of the new shop range in 2013. The grandfather figure is one I created myself, with a spare Hazel figure and the clothing from Mack Perriwinkle as no grandfather figure was released. The Dappledawn family is still available in 2015.
