The Dale Sheep Family
FATHER EWAN DALE has one of the best jobs in Sylvania. He looks after the orchards and it is his responsibility to keep the grass short, the weeds in control and the fruit trees as healthy as possible. His sweet Victoria plums, crisp Cox's pippins and juicy Morello cherries are his pride and joy, especially when his wife puts them in one of her mouthwatering pies, preserves or puddings. He simply can't get enough of his wife's home cooking and once he ate Apple Crumble, Cherry Cobbler and Plum Pudding in one sitting. His wife made him run around the orchard three times to burn off all those extra calories!
MOTHER BARBARA DALE is the real fruit expert in the Dale family. She helps her husband look after the trees in the orchards and is often there from dawn 'til dusk testing the soil, watering the roots and pruning the branches. All her hard work pays off in the summer and autumn when it's finally time to harvest the ripe fruit. She loves it when the school children come along to help and often holds competitions to make it more fun for everyone. There is usually a freshly-baked pie for whoever picks the most cherries and a jar of home-made jam for the child lucky enough to find the largest apple. Her husband tried to win a prize this year, but she told him he was far too old and that would be cheating!
BROTHER WINTON DALE likes nothing better than helping his mother and father in the orchards. He can often be found cutting the grass after school or trimming the hedges at weekends. But his favourite job is looking after the bonfire as he knows the more twigs, leaves and rotten fruit he rakes up, the bigger the bonfire will be! He takes his work very seriously though and never leaves one of his fires unattended. He knows that if the flames get out of control, Harry Spotter will mistake his bonfire for a forest fire and throw a bucket of water all over it!
SISTER IONA DALE has also been given one of the most important jobs in the orchard. She has to collect all the different kinds of fruit and sort them into different baskets before they go off to market. She has learnt precisely when a plum is ripe for picking and knows exactly when a cherry is past its best, and she has also become quite an expert at telling her Granny Smiths from her Golden Delicious! She much prefers this part-time job than going to school because she can snack on as much fruit as she wants and there are no teachers around to tell her she's had quite enough!
BABY SISTER EMMA DALE might be quite small, but that doesn't stop her joining in with the rest of the family. She is always trying to help out, pulling out weeds for her father, picking up leaves for her brother and happily following her big sister around the different trees dragging an old fruit basket behind her. But after she was stung one afternoon by an angry wasp, she soon learnt that it wasn't a good idea to pick up fallen apples from the ground. Now her mother makes sure she only eats fresh fruit from her special pink bowl!
BABY TWINS SEAN AND SHONA DALE play happily in their double pram, while the rest of the family are working hard in the orchards. Their favourite fruit is the peach and their mother loves to hear them chortle with delight as she gives them a ripe one to share. Unfortunately they are too young to understand why such delicious treats are only available eight weeks of the year!
BABY TWINS JACOB AND ANNIE DALE are quite mischievous, and can often be found following their older sister Iona around when she is fruit picking, and eating the fruits from her basket. Cherries are their favourite fruit and they can often be found picking them out of Iona's basket and eating them!

GRANDFATHER WESLEY DALE planted up the original orchard that his son Ewan now tends. Wesley walks through the orchard when ever he has the chance, not to check that Ewan is doing a good job of looking after the fruit trees, but rather to reminisce about the good old days when he was a young man.
GRANDMOTHER DOVE DALE regularly looks after her grandchildren when their parents are busy in the orchard. She would look after them all the time if she could. The grandchildren love her because she plays games with them, she is not very good at 'hide' but excellent at 'seek'. Best of all, they love her cooking!

AUNTIE WENDY DALE has a large vegetable garden, which she tends to everyday. She has always talked to her vegetables as she believes it helps them grow, but now she's also taken to singing to them! She often says that the vegetables are the only things she can get any sense out of!
AUNTIE DOLLY DALE loves the seaside and being by the sea, she spends all day at the beach in the summer pedalling her tricycle and selling the candy floss that she loves to make! Everyone likes to stop and ask for a candy floss and most comment on the fact that Dolly's fleece and her candy floss look very similar!
BABY GIRL FLOSSY DALE loves going with her mother, Dolly to the beach on Dolly's tricycle. While Dolly is selling candy floss to people, Flossy likes to build sandcastles and paddle in the water. She especially loves it when her mother lets her have some candy floss on the journey home!

The Dingle Sheep Family
FATHER DOMINIC DINGLE is Barbara Dale's brother, and often helps out at the family orchard. He can often be found helping his brother-in-law Ewan, either cutting grass or picking fruit. After a hard days work he likes nothing better than to head home and tuck into one of his wife, Rebecca's homemade stews.
MOTHER REBECCA DINGLE makes delicious stews and casseroles. She gets all her veg from Wendy Dale's vegetable patch. Her speciality is a nice winter stew, consisting of carrots, turnips, onions, leeks, potatoes and nice vegetable seasoning. Her husband Dominic often wants seconds!
SISTER AMANDA DINGLE is a very lively and bubbly young lady. You can usually hear Amanda before you see her, as she speaks quite loudly (without knowing it)!
BABY SISTER KATHARINA DINGLE loves to curl up in her cot and sleep. She is so quiet that her parents often check on her to make sure she is still there and hasn't gone off on an adventure somewhere!
The Dale Sheep family were first released into the UK range of Sylvanian Families in 2006, having previously being available in Japan. A different set of twin babies were available for the family in the Calico Critters version. Grandparent figures were added to the UK family in 2012. When the new Highfields Farm line was created in 2011, an auntie figure was released with a vegetable patch. Another auntie figure was released in 2013, coming with a tricycle to sell candyfloss from. The baby with her is a Japan keychain baby, with the chain part removed. The Dale sheep family are still part of the range in 2015, although the grandparents have been discontinued. The Dingle family were released in 2013, as part of the new parent and baby figure sets. They were originally an Easy-Buy family set in Europe, a range of families and figures cheaper than the usual Sylvanians.
