The Porridge Bear Family
FATHER CUTHBERT PORRIDGE is the best toymaker in Sylvania. His dolls houses and dolls house furniture are every girl's dream presents. Every boy would like one of Cuthbert's wooden train sets or one of his cuddly teddy bears. Cuthbert also makes a mess, but as he says, “You can't make an omlette with out breaking eggs!”
MOTHER LAUREN PORRIDGE likes everything neat and tidy, which is why she will not venture anywhere near Cuthbert's workshop. The thought of all the mess upsets her, although she does like all the wonderful toys that are the end result of all his hard work and mess!
SISTER CHLOE PORRIDGE likes having all her friends to stay for a sleep over, just so they can all play with her large dolls house and furniture. Together, Chloe and her friends have made their own curtains and carpets for the house.
BROTHER JACK PORRIDGE likes to work with his dad in the workshop, especially when there is painting to be done. Jack likes a mess and often gets more paint on his paws and face than on the toy he is painting for his father.
TWINS TEDDY AND HETTY PORRIDGE could not be less alike! Teddy takes after his mother and has all his rattles and playthings placed neatly around him; whereas Hetty is completely hare-brained and can never remember where she has put her things, just like her father!
TRIPLETS LUCY, BOBBY AND JAMIE PORIDGE take after their father, much to their mother's disdain. Leave them alone for more than thirty minutes and there is a trail of destruction left behind. They are very untidy, and no matter what their mother says or does, nothing has changed them. She is hoping as they grow older they will start being a lot neater, as the thought of having more untidy family members fills her with dread!
The Porridge Bear family were first released into the UK range in 2004. In the promotional pictures of them, they are wearing the same clothes as the UK release of the Petite Bears, but the actual release version has them wearing the same clothes as the Japan re-release of the Petite Bears. The only major difference between the Porridge bears and the Petites is the colourings of their fur, and the little muzzle on their face. The EU version of the Porridge family has them listed as 'The Marmalade Bear Family', just to add confusion. The Porridge Bears are of the smaller bear body like the Petite Bears. Although only two baby figures were named, a variety of different babies appeared for this family. The twin set was an EU exclusive, while at least three different standing babies were available in the UK.
