The Persis Persian Cat Family
FATHER SEPTIMUS PERSIS is a master craftsman who makes the most beautiful rugs Sylvania has ever seen. Every day he sits at his loom surrounded by complicated designs and creates masterpieces in delicate coloured silks and cottons on sturdy jute strands. “Why have the floor covered in a single coloured carpet when I can give you the moon and stars in a rug?” he asks his customers, many of whom have bought two or three of his multi-coloured creations to brighten up their houses. Over the years he has also made rugs for every room in his own home. His family loves them, of course, but the only problem is that Septimus hates anyone to actually walk on them!
MOTHER SALOME PERSIS is an artist. She draws her inspiration from nature and creates a lot of the intricate designs that her husband Septimus uses in his rugs. Salome feels at peace with the natural world all around her and sits at her easel beneath the trees drawing and painting for hours. Her favourite subjects are woodland flowers like the shy primrose and cheerful buttercup, and she will often use track of time as she tries to capture their bright colours and delicate petals. At least twice a week her children have to come looking for her in the forest to remind her that it is their dinner time!
BROTHER NOLLY PERSIS's idea of the 'purrfect' day is to explore his garden. Whatever the weather he likes nothing better than playing hide-and-seek with his friends and he doesn't even think about going inside until he is hungry. When he is alone though Nolly's favourite pastime is to climb to the top of as many different trees as possible, but predictably he always seems to get stuck up the tallest one! As soon as his father Septimus hears his son's cries for help, he mutters “Not again!” as he heads out into the garden. Nolly just shrugs his shoulders, smiles from ear to ear and gets ready to jump!
SISTER SADIE PERSIS likes nothing better than to curl up with a good book in the sunniest part of the house. She can spend hours reading romantic novels in the sun's warm rays, oblivious to the world around her. Her favourite writer is Barbara Catland who likes to tell stories about the beautiful heroines and swashbuckling heroes of times gone by. Sadie sometimes gets so carried away with the romance of it all that she imagines herself wearing a long floaty dress and being rescued from her tower by a handsome knight!
TWINS ROMA AND RONA PERSIS are a bit destructive in the nursery. It's not that they are really naughty, just that they don't know any better! Between them they've managed to pick holes in the wallpaper, scratch the paintwork on their cot and tie themselves up in a ball of wool. Everyone is happy when they finally fall asleep!
BABY BROTHER MARCUS PERSIS can always be found fast asleep on his sister's lap while she reads her books. He likes his sister because she is kind and gentle, and always manages to find the sunniest spots to sit!
The Persis cat family were first added to the UK Sylvanian Families range in 2008. They were the first Persian cat family added to the range. Their fur is slightly spikey, as you can see in the pictures, to give them the fluffy look. A new Persian cat family was launched in Japan in 2015, with the idea of launching into the UK market in 2016. As of 2015, the Persis family were still part of the current range of families in the UK.
