The Cat-Wood Cat Family
FATHER BOB CAT-WOOD keeps the Sylvanian Library, he's very good at remembering where things are – very useful when Kitty looses her pens. He can normally find a book just by the title, his memory is that impressive!
MOTHER KITTY CAT-WOOD writes down records of everything that happens in the woods, and she's always the first one to know about important dates – like birthdays. Her husband Bob jokes that she should make calendars for everyone in the village, as she could add everybody's birthdays to the calendar!
BROTHER THOMAS CAT-WOOD tells stories of adventure and distant lands to the young Sylvanians – some people think he makes them up, others say he listens to Captain Horatio Seadog too much.
SISTER TABITHA CAT-WOOD loves to paint pictures of the beautiful Sylvanian woods – but she's always too busy painting portraits of her friends.
BABY BROTHER CHESS CAT-WOOD likes scribbling with his crayons, he can't understand why no-one can tell what his pictures are.
BABY SISTER FEEBI CAT-WOOD collects things, anything from games and books to oddly shaped bits of wood and milk bottle tops. What a muddle!

FATHER CLINTON CAT-WOOD is one of the historians of the Sylvanian Village. He is good friends with Bertram Bamboo, and together they have collected lots of usual information and photographs of olden day Sylvania. Clinton is currently putting the finishing touches to his latest history book, all about Sea Breeze Cape.
MOTHER CLARISSA CAT-WOOD is a hive of information about what is happening in the village. Some people might even call her a gossip! It isn't that she is nosy, or that she pries into everyone else's business, she just seems to be at the right place at the right time each day.
BROTHER SAMUEL CAT-WOOD loves riding horses. Everyday after school he rushes to the stables to see if he can ride his favourite horse, Nutmeg. At the weekends he likes to help out at the stables, be it grooming the horses or mucking out the stables.
SISTER LAUREN CAT-WOOD is a keen photographer. Her parents got her a camera for Christmas, and every weekend she likes to go walking in the Sylvanian woods and countryside, snapping away. She was delighted, as the other week, one of her pictures was printed in the Sylvanian newspaper.
BABY TWINS TIGER AND SCRATCH CAT-WOOD are great adventurers already. They recently learned how to climb out of their play pen while Clarissa was on the telephone, and when she returned to their room they had scaled to the top of the bookcase. She doesn't know how they managed to get so high, and they haven't told her, so she is threatening to put a net over their pen to keep them in it!
The Cat-Wood family were first released in 1989 to the UK Sylvanian range. They were the first cat family to be released into the UK range. In Japan, they were released earlier, but as part of the Urban Life range. The Japan version of the family saw them wearing much nicer clothes and appearing more upmarket to their UK counterparts. The family saw a re-release in the early 2000s in the UK by Flair, this time wearing new outfits.
